Thank you, Jeremy for such a nice introduction. For everyone reading this, Jeremy has been a huge supporter of our films and he, along with our friends, family, film colleagues, and representation, has encouraged us to publish more on the web. Alas, web publishing of any kind is a skill very much lost on me. I simply don’t get it. Maybe I ride the short bus to Dreamweaver school.
So… www.morobrosfilms.wordpress.com is meant to serve as an interim web page for what will hopefully soon be a Production Journal, or News, or blog portion of www.morobrosfilms.com. Jeremy, in his effort to help us, set the whole blog up and all the way from Iraq too (where let’s face it, he’s doing much more important work).
“Redux” is a short film that my brother Sean Moro has written and is in the process of directing…and which I am producing. At the time of this writing, we are less than 2 days away from completing Principal Photography. It is the largest production we have independently taken on and the process has been very rewarding. There is nothing like doing it independently. — There are 9 locations, 7 main roles, 25 pages, day exteriors and night exteriors, real locations and built sets, some modest action and effects — and all of it in amazing 4K Digital Resolution.
The hope is for this blog to serve as a kind of behind the scenes journal in text (and photos & video, once I figure out how to upload them), which will not only give an impression of what it was like to make this movie, but perhaps also help our fellow filmmakers should they find anything educational or useful herein. I’m not sure yet how we will organize the blogs, since there is much to write about that has already happened, but we’ll figure out a way to do it. Non-linear storytelling is certainly not unfamiliar to most.
On the last film I directed (and which Sean produced), “The Bedtime Story,” we didn’t have production still photographs, or wordpress.com, or the ease of creating a journal like this,. But on “Redux,” we have a lot of photos, and this blog should help us to finally create a production journal not only for “Redux,” but maybe even for “The Bedtime Story” as well.
Okay, back to producing. Stay tuned….
